Lucknow – Ridhima Yadav, Aradhya, Oshin, and Drishti Sharma showcased remarkable performances at the Lucknow Athletics Team selection trials held at KD Singh Babu Stadium, clinching double gold medals in their respective events.
Organized by the Lucknow District Athletics Association, the trials covered multiple age categories: Under-14, 16, 18, 20, and 23. In the Under-16 girls’ category, Ridhima Yadav secured first place in both the 600 meters and 60 meters races, while Aradhya won gold in pentathlon and long jump. Drishti Sharma triumphed in shot put and discus throw in the Under-18 girls’ category, and Oshin claimed top honors in triathlon and long jump for the Under-14 girls.
Other notable performances included Ankit Kumar Singh (Under-18 boys, 100m), Gaurav Tiwari (Under-18 boys, 400m), Asha Pal (Under-23 girls, 1500m), and Satyam Yadav (Under-18 boys, 1km). The trials also saw strong showings in triple jump, javelin, hammer throw, and shot put across different age groups.
BR Varun, Secretary of the Lucknow District Athletics Association, confirmed that the selected athletes will represent Lucknow at the state-level athletics competition, scheduled from September 14–16, 2025, at Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium, Prayagraj. Organizers including Kamta Singh, Halimuddin, Prabhashankar, Rajesh Gaur, Jyoti Nishad, Lavkush Singh, and Seema Singh played active roles in motivating the athletes during the trials.
